The People's Republic of China is situated in the southeastern part of the Eurasian Continent, on the western coast of the Pacific Ocean. Having both marine and land boundary line of more than 20,000 kilometers and a coastline of 18,000 kilometers.
The total area of China is 9,596,960 sq km, the world's third-largest country.
China has the world’s biggest population, which is 1,261,832,482 (July 2000 est.)

There are 56 nationalities in China, Han Chinese 91.9%, Zhuang, Uygur, Hui, Yi, Tibetan, Miao, Manchu, Mongol, Buyi, Korean, and other nationalities 8.1%.
Han Chinese have their own language and characters, and Chinese is the current language in China as well as one of the world’s current languages.

The People's Republic of China is a socialist state under the people's democratic dictatorship led by the working class and based on the alliance of workers and peasants. All power in the People's Republic of China belongs to the people. The organs through which the people exercise state power are the National People's Congress and the local people's congresses at different levels.
The national flag of the People's Republic of China is a red flag with five stars.


The national emblem of the People's Republic of China is Tian'anmen in the center illuminated by five stars and encircled by ears of grain and a cogwheel.
The capital of the People's Republic of China is Beijing.
The National Anthem of the People's Republic of China is the March of the Volunteers
China adheres to an independent foreign policy as well as to the five principles of mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, mutual non-aggression, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence in developing diplomatic relations and economic and cultural exchanges with other countries.
The country is divided into provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government; Provinces and autonomous regions are divided into autonomous prefectures, counties, autonomous counties, and cities; Counties and autonomous counties are divided into townships, nationality townships, and towns. Municipalities directly under the Central Government and other large cities are divided into districts and counties. Autonomous prefectures are divided into counties, autonomous counties, and cities. All autonomous regions, autonomous prefectures, and autonomous counties are national autonomous areas.
23 province and 5 autonomous regions, 4 municipalicities, and two special administrative regions of Hongkong and Macow.
China is a multi-religion country, Taoism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, and Catholicism all have their believers in China, which add up to more than a hundred million.
China has long history of literature. The Four Famous Chinese Classics novels have many foreign versions all over the world.
Can be found in hundreds of stores. They vary in age, quality and price with the finest being true works of art. The brushes ink slabs, ink and paper that were the scholar's traditional tools could be found in most antique shops.
Chinese opera boasts over 300 various distinct forms - taking their names from their places of origin. These forms are generally discernible by their use of local dialects and distinct 'melodies'. Beijing opera is considered by most to be the most refined. Also widespread are Pingju Opera, Kunqu Opera, Shaoxing Opera, Henan Opera, Sichuan Opera, Shanxi Opera, Huangmei Opera, Huagu Opera and Yangko Opera. Some Chinese ethnic minority groups have some local form of operas.
The body of vocal and instrumental music composed and played by the Chinese people has a history of more than 8000 years. It has a very early development of theoretical, systematic, acoustical, and material science, and orchestral practice.
Acrobatics is a performing art, which combines physical strength and skill. The Encyclopedias Britannica describes acrobatics as "the specialized and ancient art of jumping, tumbling and balancing, often using apparatus such as poles, unicycles, balls, barrels, tightropes, trampolines and flying trapezes".
It is a treasure house of ancient and traditional arts where you can find unparalleled collections of jade, golden ware, porcelain, cloisonné, lacquer ware, embroidery, metals from ancient time and folk arts such as kites, paper-cut, lantern and folk toys.
